From Lo Viste To I See You
With the arrival of Hanley Ramirez from the Miami Marlins to the Dodgers almost two weeks ago we not only got a batting champion and all-star, but he also brought to L.A. I See You. A hand gesture where he takes his thumb and index finger and puts them together in an oval shape and puts them over his eyes. Anytime he would get a hit and get on base, he would make this gesture. Before you knew it Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier were seen doing it and a new sensation was born. Announcers were quickly trying to figure out what that was about. In a post game interview they asked him and he simply said I See You. From that moment I See You has been sweeping across twitter and fans everywhere as well as shirt designers. I too came up with a design and had to move quickly since I would be attending a game last week and wanted to show him and get his thoughts.
As he came in from batting practice I called him and told him I had something for him. I pulled out the shirt from my bag and showed him. I wish I had recorded it because his face lit up when he saw the shirt and he said “Perfect, That’s Perfect”. I asked him if it was still called Lo Viste, which was another hand gesture he would do in Miami. He said no, it was called I See You. He told me to add I See You across the bottom, which I had planned to, but I wanted to make sure I had the correct name. I asked to get a picture of him holding the shirt and as I did so did some of the other MLB press that was in the dugout but he told them “First I have to tweet it”. He let me get my picture and as he walked away he thanked me and said ” I am going to put this on right now”. A few moments the Dodgers put the image up on their Instagram.
Since that game I know Hanley has been using the shirt as his warm up shirt and wears it under his game Jersey. He was spotted on the Dodgers pre game show wearing it.
